Katherine LoForte's dream was to open a beautiful place where healing and hope could be realized by those suffering from substance abuse. She succumbed to this terrible disease but her vision has been realized by her father, Anthony LoForte, Sr., who in her memory created this house of hope and healing.

Nestled in the beautiful Alhambra Valley on the old Spanish land grant Rancho de Los Dos Canadas, is a luxurious, colonial ranch style villa, the home of Alhambra Valley Retreat. The five acre property affords breathtaking views, resort-style amenities and a tranquil setting ideal for achieving sobriety and beginning the journey to lifetime recovery. Alhambra Valley Retreat (AVR) is a 24 hour residential treatment program for adult males suffering from alcohol and/or substance abuse. The program is licensed and certified by the State of California, Department of Health Care Services, and in 2021 received a three year accreditation by The Commission on Accredited Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
AVR is credentialed by Kaiser Permanente as a provider of services to over two million insured clients throughout Northern California. The program accepts all Kaiser clients in this region. The program also accepts cash pay clients.
The program is designed to treat 6 clients at a time, which allows for individualized treatment plans and personal attention to our resident's needs.The treatment program includes individual, group and family therapy with a licensed therapists, educational sessions, and recovery and treatment planning designed to help each client transition back to their community after their successful treatment stay. Augmenting traditional substance abuse recovery curriculum, Alhambra Valley Retreat features a holistic, wellness component that focuses on the mind, body and spirit. Clients are surrounded with dedicated and supportive counselors , evidence based therapeutic practices and a setting conducive to successful outcomes.
